Legal Practice Manager Vicky Prapas appointed Victorian Magistrate

Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) Legal Practice Manager Vicky Prapas has been appointed a Victorian Magistrate, Attorney-General Martin Pakula has announced.

Director of Public Prosecutions Kerri Judd QC and Solicitor for Public Prosecutions John Cain congratulated Ms Prapas on her appointment.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to Vicky on her appointment as a Victorian Magistrate,” Ms Judd said.

Mr Cain said Vicky will be a huge loss to the Office after providing outstanding service over 23 years.

“Vicky has made a major contribution to this Office over this period and has shown great leadership as Legal Practice Manager over a number of years,” he said.

“Vicky led the way with the restructure and modernisation of the Legal Practice. She has provided mentoring, advice and support to managers and staff.”

Vicky joined the OPP as a solicitor in General Prosecutions in 1995, after working as a solicitor advocate in private practice for three-and-a-half years.

She worked across a number of specialist areas, including the Specialist Sex Offences Unit and Advocacy.

In 2007, she took over the role of Manager of Organised Crime and commenced the prosecution of the second phase of Purana taskforce cases.

The focus of this work was multi-headed drug prosecutions and frauds relating to the Mokbel crime family, as well as assorted murders like that of underworld figure Lewis Moran.

Vicky was appointed Acting Legal Practice Manager in January 2015 and reprised the role on a permanent basis from 1 November 2016.
