Longer CCO imposed

A woman who pleaded guilty to intentionally causing serious injury after stabbing her partner, has had a longer Community Correction Order imposed by the Court of Appeal.

Director of Public Prosecutions John Champion S.C. appealed the 12-month Community Correction Order handed down to Sheree Maxfield by the County Court in June 2014.

The Court of Appeal allowed the appeal, and re-sentenced Ms Maxfield to a three-year Community Correction Order with additional conditions imposed.

The Court found it was a very unusual case and one that required Ms Maxfield be treated differently from that of a person who committed this offence without her disabilities.
