Media Release - 30 April 2008 - Leigh Robinson

The Victorian Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Jeremy Rapke QC, today urged the media to show restraint in its reporting of the arrest and charging of Leigh Robinson.

Mr. Robinson is alleged to have murdered Tracey Greenbury in Frankston earlier this week. Mr. Robinson has been remanded for further appearance on 20 August 2008 and has not applied for bail.

"Now that Mr. Robinson has been formally charged with murder it is very important that the media report this matter responsibly and do not publish material which might prejudicially affect any future trial of Mr. Robinson on this or any related charge" said Mr. Rapke.

"This allegation is of course unproven and Mr. Robinson's right to a fair trial, free of any prejudicial publicity, must be preserved" he said.

"The matter will now make its way through the criminal justice system and it is not appropriate that my Office make any further comment at this stage", Mr. Rapke said.
