Media Release - 28 July 2008 - Harry Barkas

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Jeremy Rapke QC, has confirmed that certain charges against the defendant, Harry Barkas, were formally withdrawn at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

Mr Rapke said: "The decision to withdraw the charges has been made after careful consideration of the evidence and consultation with Victoria Police. As Mr Barkas has other matters outstanding, it is not appropriate for me to discuss the reasons for withdrawing the charges at this point in time."
